The Uni-Padua-IT promotional video for iGEM 2023

Uni-Padua-IT is the sole Italian team in the iGEM 2023 competition, winners of the iGEM Impact grant. Our student’s project focuses on engineering bacteriophages, viruses able to infect bacteria and harmless to humans, to fight Antimicrobial Resistance in frightening pathogens frequently found in our University hospital.

From the 2nd to the 5th of November, the team will represent Italy in Paris, to present their results at the iGEM Grand Jamboree, competing for the prestigious prizes with other >400 teams from 66 nations counting for a total of 75000 international participants!

What is iGEM

iGEM is the hearth of Synthetic Biology.

iGEM educates the workforce and the leaders of the Synthetic Biology industry.

The iGEM Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of synthetic biology, education and competition, and the development of an open, collaborative, and cooperative community.

The iGEM Competition

Multidisciplinary student teams from all over the world compete for medals and awards by designing, building, and testing projects using cutting-edge synthetic biology. Teams document their work through deliverables like wikis, videos, and presentations, and are evaluated by expert panels of judges. The 2023 Competition is now underway!

Teams create projects from start to end – from brainstorming to proof of concept. Projects aim to have a positive impact and solve real-world problems in the local community.

Witness the future and interact with tomorrow’s leaders of synthetic biology! The Grand Jamboree brings together researchers, industry reps, startup founders, investors, journalists, experts in governance and policy, and the general public to chart the future of synthetic biology.
